West Dorset District Council have considered the plans for our Affordable Houses at Thane Farm and wished to make some amendments. These amendments affect the wall finishes which were to have been of brick with some timber faced walls. They propose to retain the timber facings but wish to introduce some flint with brick quoins and on others the wall finish will be rendered. In addition house 5 will be turned by 90 degrees to form a terrace of the 5 houses facing the road. The amended plans can be seen on the Dorset for You web page under planning

The planning application for affordable homes to be built in Marshwood by Hastoe Housing Group has been published on the West Dorset District Council planning web site. The BBC local news programme South Today has broadcast an item on how Community Land Trusts are providing affordable homes for local people in Dorset. They featured both the already built homes at Worth Matravers over in the east of the county and the proposed scheme for Toller Pocorum which also includes the building of a Post Office for the village. The Worth Matravers houses have a rather radical design, very different to the farmyard look we are going for here in Marshwood. Following yet another letter sent on 2nd May to the Homes and Community Agency (HCA) asking them not to sanction our application for a grant to help with building of our Affordable Homes we are delighted to say that today, Monday 20th May the HCA did ratify our grant. This will now be paid to Hastoe Housing Association to assist in financing the building of the new houses

At the public meeting held tonight at Blackdown village hall local residents by a show of hands overwhelmingly voted in favourof the affordable housing scheme at the proposed Thane Farm site in Marshwood. Before the meeting drawings of the proposed houses where on show and representatives from Hastoe Housing Group and West Dorset District Council were on hand to answer questions.
Hastoe Group and Marshwood Community Land Trust will be holding a public meeting at Blackdown Village Hall on Tuesday 23rd April 2013. Plans for the proposed affordable homes will be on view from 3pm and 7pm and this will be followed by an open meeting. Representatives of Hastoe, the CLT and WDDC will be on hand during the day to answer questions.
